He was born January 23, 1931 in Fremont, OH to Theodore (Dorrie) and Marie (Reinbolt) and married Mary Durbin who died in March 1994.
Mr. Held was a Korean War Veteran, he worked as a radar technician on the Nike Hercules missile system for the U.S. Army. He was part of the team setting up radar sites in the Everglades during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then went to El Paso, TX to support the Foreign Military Sales for the mission system. He was an avid ham radio operator.
Surviving are his children; Marie Held of Huntsville, AL, Frederick (Nancy) of Clayton, NC, Judith (Jimmy) Stines of Asheville, NC, Jody Held (Robert) of Oxford, FL, Roger (MiSuk) of Monroe, WA, and Gerald (Jennie) of El Paso, TX; 11 grandchildren; Kari, Ariel, Sandra, Christina, Julia, Kevon, Heather, James, Michele, Jacquelin, Caroline, 4 great-grandchildren; Lily, Brayden, Mason, John, and brother, Donald (Barbara) Held of Fremont, OH. His brother Theodore and sisters Rose Swedersky and Gloria Picciuto preceded him in death.
A graveside service will take place Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio next to his wife, Mary. Pastor Scott Mauch will be officiating.
