

Herbert Freeman, 78, of Fremont died Sunday, January1, 2012 at Valleyview Care Center. He was born October 11, 1933 in Eufala, AL, the son of Albert Freeman and Alice Marshall- Davis and step-son of James Davis. Herbert was raised by his grandmother Visser Marshall. He was a career military man stationed in Germany, retiring after 24 years of service, as a 1st Class Sgt. He was married to Clydie Freeman who preceded him in death in 2004 after over 30 years of marriage. Upon his retirement, Herbert worked construction and was an active member of his church. Herbert loved to sing and was founder of the Fremont Gospel Blazers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his joy of life, food and fellowship. Surviving are his children: Geenie Freeman of FL; Linda (Ray) Wilkinson of Fort Washington, MD; Alan T. Freeman of Fremont, OH; Rebecca Conley of Fremont, OH; Martin Freeman of Washington, D.C.; siblings: Robert Davis of Fremont, OH; Bobby Freeman of Atlanta, GA; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; life-long friends: Aunt S.A. Freeman, Quincy Freeman and Charlie Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings: Annie Muriel Davis, Geraldine Harris, Shelly Pearl and James Freeman.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30A.M. at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, 601 Bidwell Avenue, Fremont, Ohio. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 A.M. at the church with Rev. Alfonso Vann officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military graveside rights performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion. Online condolences may be expressed at www.kokm.net.
