Born and raised in Fresno, CA, he had also lived in southern California to work in the aerospace industry in support of World War II. After returning to Fresno, he rejoined the family business. Eventually, he and his brother took control and ran Jorgensen & Co. until their retirement in 2006. At that time the business was sold to their 125 employees. In his free time, Al enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his vacation home in Bass Lake. The home which he bought in the early 1970s, has been a retreat and place of celebration for several generations of the family. Al was also a passionate NASCAR fan since it's inception in the late 1940s. In those early years, when races were held in the central valley, Al was sought after as a pit crew member, part of many winning crews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola P. Jorgensen; his daughter, Connie L. Jorgensen; his sister, Hope Baughman; his brother, Lawrence Jorgensen; and his parents, Hans Peter and Olga Jorgensen.
