Alyse Abbate-Knight passed away on March 6th, 2025 at the age of 61. She was a native of Fresno but also moved to Phoenix to attend Arcadia High School. At age 18 Alyse faced an unimaginable challenge: a traumatic brain injury that left her paralyzed. With grit and determination, Alyse embarked on a journey of rehabilitation, focusing on both physical recoveries, but also rebuilding her brains capabilities. Through much effort, she triumphed, regaining the ability to walk, run and reclaim a near normal life. Alyse knew perseverance and hard work.
At age 25 she met Paul Knight. She married Paul and together they built a lifelong marriage with many blessings including their son, Hunter Knight. He was the joy of her life on a daily basis.
Alyse has always been beautiful inside and out. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. She grew as a woman of deep faith and spirituality. Born into a Catholic family, she cherished attending St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Later in life, she found great joy in worshipping at People’s Church. Alyse lived a life filled with faith, love and joy. She was devoted to prayer and scripture study. She loved reading the Bible and being a prayer warrior – always ready to offer encouragement and support to those around her.
Alyse had many passions that brought her happiness throughout her life. As a young woman, she was a cheerleader-an early reflection of the energy and enthusiasm she carried always. She found peace in journaling, poetry and scrapbooking. She adored fashion and dressed beautifully. Some of her favorite pastimes were being with horses and traveling to the family cabin, a place where she could relax and reflect on life’s blessings.
Her mantra in life was simple yet profound: “Go slow as a turtle” and “Go with the flow”. Her life verse was Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul and leads me…”
Alyse is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Knight and their son, Hunter. She also leaves behind her sister Andrea, and brothers Jim and Laurence. She was predeceased by her parents, Aileen “Dottie” Abbate and Hal Abbate, as well as her brother Hal Abbate.
"We miss you, Alyse. God bless you always."
