Andrea Jean Medlen-Ford passed away on February 25, 2018 at her home. She passed in her sleep on her 65th birthday, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She was a woman of many names. She was known as Andrea by business acquaintances and some of her friends, as AJ by her co-workers, and as Jake by her family. She attended St. Helen's grammar school, and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
She worked for the State of California for the majority of her career, spending most of that time as an OSHA engineer. She loved her job, and most of all she loved the people she worked with. They were a close-knit group and stayed in close contact, even as many of them began retiring.
Andrea was so very kind and generous, helping anyone who needed it. Her family was first in her heart. Her friends became family and she was there for anyone who needed her at any time. She would take care of them, their homes, their children, or their animals, be it anything from a cat to a horse. Whatever the need, she was happy to take care of it.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready for a laugh. She had a way of looking at life through rose colored glasses, albeit sometimes with raindrops on the lens. She loved children. Age made no difference, she loved them all. However, if you walked in a room with a baby, she staked claim to it and it was under her care for the remainder of the visit.
Andrea is survived by her brother Jerry Medlen and his wife Rosalie of Bakersfield, and sister Nancy Medlen Wright of Fresno. She is also survived by five nephews and their spouses, Brian and Beth Medlen, Philip and Janie Medlen, Paul and Alexandra Wright, Clinton and Beth Wright and Damon Medlen. She is the great aunt of Eric and Kaitlyn Wright, as well as Allison and Cole Wright. She is also survived by her great nephew Alec Wright with whom she shared a very special bond.
Her family asks that you remember her fondly, as do we.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Clovis Memorial Veterans Building in Clovis.
