Anne Peters was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 25, 1935, and was welcomed into God's heavenly kingdom on February 26, 2010. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Anne earned her Master's degree in dietetics at the University of Cincinnati. It was there that she met her husband Gerald. They married and moved to Fresno, where Gerald started his medical practice and Anne set up housekeeping in the home where she raised her family and lived for the rest of her life. In the early to mid 1970's Anne served as a dietician at Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno where she was promoted to chief dietician before she elected to return home to be a full time mother to her three children.
Anne's interests and hobbies ranged from singing in a local women's choir, to riding and showing quarter horses, to flower arranging. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at the beach in Cayucos. She was also an accomplished seamstress, a gracious hostess and an outstanding cook. On top of all this, she oversaw the business details of Gerald's medical practice as his office manager. And she did everything with the charm and grace born of her sincere interest in others and her gift of service. She will be remembered forever as an extraordinarily loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, sister and friend, always more concerned about others than herself, even in her final illness.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Dorothy Lenzi.
She is survived by Gerald, her husband of 49 years; her brothers Emil and John of Richmond, Virginia; three children Jerry and his wife Toni, Margie and her husband Jeff, and John and his wife Andrea; and five grandchildren Mariah, Maddie, Luke, Jake and Nate. Visitation was held at Lisle Funeral Home on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St., NW, Washington, DC 2006-3517 Arrangements by Lisle Funeral Home, website www.lislefuneralhome.com
