

Billy Ray Covey was born on August 4, 1928 in Olton, Texas. He passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 97. He was a resident of the CALVET Veterans Home of California in Fresno, California.
Billy Ray served his country as an Army soldier in the Korean War from February 1952 - February 1954. He was awarded three military medals during his active duty of service. One of his passions he spoke of frequently was earning his pilot’s license after the war. He was proud of the many memories he and his daughter Eva Claudean Thwaytes shared with piloting experiences when she was a young girl.
After retirement, Billy enjoyed traveling, seeing many beautiful places and meeting many wonderful people along the way. He was also known as a jokester and would always tell the best stories about his childhood or his many adventures he had encountered in his life.
His surviving family includes his brother Doyle Covey, grandchildren Dean and Donna Bartron, Sherie Menzie, step daughter Darlene Tharp, step son Bob Crawford, 7 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Eva Claudean Thwaytes.
There will be no attending funeral services.
Billy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
