Cathy Gene Martin-Evans was born on May 21st 1949 in the city of Reedly California to Edward and Elizabeth Izmirian as the youngest child. She is survived by her sons Brandon and Derrick, Sister Sheila, Nephew Jason, father Edward and husband Bruce. She was the younger sister to Sheila Izimirian. Cathy was brought up in Reedly where she attended Grammar school and then moved to Fresno where she attended Hoover High. After graduation from Hoover High Cathy continued to Fresno City College and then transferred to Fresno state where she graduated with a Bachelors in English as well as a minor in Bible history. In 1970 she moved to San Jose and by 1974 married her first husband Larry Martin. Cathy started her own clothing shop call "The Cat's Closet" in San Jose and then gave birth to her first son Brandon shortly after with Larry. About 2 years later she gave birth to her second son Derrick with Larry and then began attending Golden State University for accounting.
After earning her masters in accounting she became a financial consultant for companies such as Rolm, Chips, National Semiconductor, Unitek, Palm, 3Com and many more leading innovators in the Silicon Valley. She was a financial consultant going over books and budgets to determine company financial planning. Cathy married her second husband Bruce Evans on Oct 16st 2004 on their ranch in Fresno California where they lived together. Their love for each other was so strong and the level of compassion between them so beautiful. They would take care of the animals together on their ranch. Whether she was taking in a cat or trying to attend to an injured animal she always had a soft spot for animals.
Cathy was an amazing God loving person who always gave her time and attention to her children. She would sing songs to Brandon and Derrick before bed and made sure that they had everything possible to succeed in the world from adolescence through adulthood. The belief in Christianity was such a source of strength in this beautiful woman as she could do anything with god and Jesus in her heart. Her faith in God was very important to her and exuded from her everyday. The strength of this woman was incredible and so many people have pointed this out through the years. Cathy is no longer suffering as she is now in heaven with God and smiling down upon us all. The day Cathy passed away there was a storm with lightning and thunder opening the gates of heaven for her to gracefully and powerfully enter heaven to be with God.
Golfing was her favorite hobby. She loved to play with her husband Bruce regularly for fun and in tournaments. In the last year of her life she hit a hole in one on a par 3 course while still fighting her disease and undergoing several treatments which is so incredible!! Cathy made mention of wanting to write a book about her life experiences titled "In His Hands". Cathy Martin-Evans will always be remembered by family and friends as she was the most giving, loving, most tenacious woman around.
Please feel free to donate any amount possible to The American Cancer Society so we can fight this disease and find a cure.
