Charles Lucas Rambo passed away in a loving and caring environment on March 30, 2023. Charles was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 20, 1930 and lived most of his life in California. He and his wife Vicki Oehlschlaeger Rambo lived on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco for 35 years before retiring to their farmi in West Fresno in 2009.
He served time in the Air Force and worked in the aerospace industry and then in sales. He had his own marketing company in San Francisco and traveled nationwide. He loved meeting new people in the various cities he would visit during his career. Charles was a member in good standing of Old First Presbyterian Church in San Francisco and the Daly City Senior Center. He was also a 25-year member of the Elks Lodge in San Francisco and Fresno.
Charles enjoyed golf, gardening and inventing all types of gadgets and gizmos. He loved animals and provided not only for his pets but for the wild creatures that entered his yard. He made special feeding arrangements for squirrels, birds, and even the rabbits which would try to destroy his garden. And he dearly loved shopping at Fresno Ag Hardware to get much needed supplies for all the projects.
Charles is survived by his wife Vicki Rambo of Fresno and his brother Robert J. Rambo of Los Gatos, California. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and sisters in law as well as his devoted and caring companion Austin Ramirez who helped him with his many ongoing projects and inventions. He will be deeply missed by his loving four footed friends Jack, Mel, JoButton, Peep, Grits, Leela and Big Dog.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Bristol Hospice and Autumn Ridge Assisted Living in Kerman for their excellent care and compassion during the final days and hours of his life. They were instrumental in providing a peaceful passing that was a blessing to family and friends.
Charles requested a private service and will be interred at the Old First Presbyterian Church Columbarium in San Francisco. The family asks that any remembrances be made to Bristol Hospice or to any animal rescue organization of your choice. A few he was fond of are Cat House on the Kings, Animal Compassion, HOPE Animal Shelter and Animal Rescue of Fresno.
