Cynthia "Cinde" Gayle Unruh

Cynthia “Cinde” Gayle Unruh, age 76, of Fresno, CA passed away on April 2, 2026, at her home encircled by loving family. Cinde was born the daughter of Harry and Verda Friesen to humble beginnings in Kansas. A year long family trip circumnavigating the globe before age 16 that included a six month stay in India, which instilled a love of world travels, later bringing her to Africa, Turkey, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, and beyond. At age 18, she met Dennis, the love of her life, at Bethel College and began a 55-year marriage for the ages which anchored all other paths. She completed a BS Degree in Nursing from Stanford University. As a healer and nurturer at heart, she found purpose in helping others. Early career experiences in Intensive Care, Cardiac Care, and Emergency Care demonstrated her critical care expertise. She spent a majority of her career as one of the original staff of the Fresno Surgery Center where she was revered as much for her empathy and hospitality as for her poise in the operating room. Yet above all she pursued bright visions of family, friendship, and faith in Jesus. She was beloved by her family, many friends, and her faith community of Trinity Church in Clovis. She lived confidently, loved fiercely, and did nothing without passion. A treasured wife of 55 years, mother and proud grandmother, her life weaves a story of love, and a legacy that reminds all of those who knew her to be grateful for the blessings. She loved the ocean as a prelude to her plunge into the great sea of God’s love. She is survived by her devoted husband Dennis Unruh, grateful son Brandon (Katherine) Unruh and loving daughter Taryn (Coleman) Finley: grandchildren Lily, River, Greyson, and Levi; and brothers Kenneth (Carol) Friesen and Gregory Friesen. Her parents preceded her in death.

A Life Celebration honoring Cinde will be held on May 23, 2026, at Trinity Community Church beginning at 11:00AM and concluding at 1:00PM.
