

Dan passed away in his home in Kerman on Saturday, June 30, 2012, just nine days after celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife Dorothy, and his family on June 21, 2012. He was 95 years old.
Dan was born in Celina, Ohio, on December 20, 1916, to Benjamin Lutz and Faith Howick Lutz. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1934.
Dan worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Benton Harbor, Mi., and later in Fresno before farming in Kerman for many years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marines in Guam and then with the Occupation Force in Nagasaki.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ten brothers and sisters; and a grand - daughter.
Dan was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Basque Club, and The Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, especially Ana Madrid for her gentle and wonderful care; and St. Agnes Home Health and Hospice for their expert care, especially Ann, Luce and Elvira.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Irigaray; his five sons, Jerry and his wife Lou, Larry, Jim and his wife Kaywin, John and his wife Laura, and Mike and his wife, Desiree; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns and Blair on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kerman on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery
