It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daw Myint Myint, who left us peacefully at the age of 86 on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1939 in Myanmar to Daw Nu and U Kyaw Win. She was largely raised by her grandmother and completed her education at Hua Zhong Chinese School in Myanmar.
At the age of fourteen, she met the love of her life, U Tha Din, when he began attending a tutoring program just down the street from her childhood home. What began as a friendship soon blossomed into a lifelong romance. They were married when she was twenty-two and he was twenty-three, beginning a journey together that would span sixty-four years. The two were inseparable, and their love endured for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. Together, they built a family of six and shared a beautiful life rooted in their deep affection and unwavering support for one another.
Daw Myint Myint was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She paved opportunities for her children and grandchildren to achieve their personal and career goals in ways that she herself did not have. She recollected every birthday, every milestone, and every exam date—her thoughtfulness and care anchored the family. She kept hearts full and bellies fuller with her delicious meals, bringing together the family to enjoy some of her greatest signature meals such as sticky rice dumplings (“ba zhan” in Hokkien). She was an undefeatable Mahjong player, a loyal fan of the NBA playoffs and finals, and was the life of community gatherings who brought friends and family together.
She is survived by her husband, U Tha Din, her daughters, Yin Yin (Maung Maung Oo), San San (Dr. Cho Lwin), and Dr. Serena Ng/Aye Aye (Kent Ng), her son, Kyaw Lin (Dr. Lin Lin Tun), as well as 8 grandchildren (Dr. Steven Lin, Dr. William Lin & Dr. Moe Pwint Phyu, Dr. Tommy Lin & Aye Thi Maw, Stephanie Lin, Michelle Lin & Jeremy Lan, Kevin Ng, Evan Chang, Sofia Ng) and 3 great grandchildren (Elwyn Lin, Liam Lin, Amara Lin) who will carry on her legacy of wisdom, strength, brilliance, and unwavering love.
Daw Myint Myint will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit lives on in the stories we share, the values we live by, and the love we display to each other now and for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life for Daw Myint Myint will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 beginning at 10:00am at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, located at 836 E Nees Ave Fresno, CA 93720.
