

Dorothy was born in Texas on September 28, 1917, and went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 23, 2013, at the age of 96. She gave thanks to him for guidance her whole life. She volunteered at any church where she was a member as a Sunday school teacher, office worker, and circle leader. Dorothy married her best friend, Henry Slinkard, in February 1940 and they were blessed with a daughter Camille in 1942. Henry served two years in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. They moved to Fresno in 1947. Henry sold real estate and Dorothy worked as a school secretary. They were married for 27 years. In 1969 Dorothy married George Warner, a Fresno Unified School District principal; they were married for 31 years.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, James Harper of San Antonio and his three children; her daughter, Camille Russell and Camille's friend Tanveer "Dan" Yaseen of Fresno; grandson, Byron Russell and his wife Mayuko of Fresno; grandson, Richard Russell, his wife Carrie and their children Beatrice and Henry, currently living in St. Andrews, Scotland; and step-daughter, Marlys Warner of San Diego.
There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in the Valencia Center at the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens, 5555 N. Fresno St, where she lived for the past 12 years. Dorothy gratefully acknowledged the excellent care by the staff at the Gardens. She enjoyed fellowship and friendship with other Gardens residents.
