Elizabeth Gene Izmirian, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, with her devoted husband by her side, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Elizabeth was born in Chicago, Il. on August 1, 1926, and eventually moved to Pasadena with her parents and brother. She was a graduate of Pasadena High School and attended college at Westmont College until she met her husband Edward on a blind date, and he whisked her away to marry in Reedley, Ca. They had two daughters and eventually moved to Fresno, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Elizabeth was an avid gardener and had over 100 rose plants in her garden. She went on endless trips to the foothills (with her daughters in tow), where she loaded tons of river rock into a trailer hooked up to her car, to adorn her yard. She was a meticulous homemaker and always made sure that her family was taken care of spiritually and physically.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Edward of 65 years, who unselfishly took care of her for the last seven years of her failing health; two daughters and husbands, Cathy and Bruce, and Sheila and Charles; and three grandchildren, Derrick, Brandon and Jason. She is also survived by her brother Daniel and his wife Dorothy; and a nephew and niece, Daniel Jr. and Nancy.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral home on Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at the Clovis Cemetery at a later date.
Remembrances may be sent to the The Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar, Fresno CA 93720
