Evelyn A. Coats

January 31, 1935 – July 27, 2025

The family of Evelyn A. (Spolsdoff) Coats is saddened to announce her passing on July 27, 2025 at the age of 90.

Evelyn was born on January 31, 1935, in Kerman, California, to Alex and Anna (Matchniff) Spolsdoff. She was the youngest of eight siblings—four brothers and three sisters—all of whom preceded her in death.

She married the love of her life, Carroll Coats, and they shared 33 years together until his passing in 1999.

Evelyn was proceeded in death by her stepson Ronald Coats, a granddaughter and a great-niece, and survived by her stepson, Norman Coats, and his wife Mary, and seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind eleven nephews and seven beloved nieces.

Family and friends were Evelyn’s greatest joy. She had a love for Scrabble, a passion for reading, and an unwavering faith in the Lord. Her prayers and belief were the foundation of her daily life. Evelyn's legacy is one of love, unity, and devotion—her gentle spirit and strong family bond will live on in all who knew her.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel in Fresno, California, with interment immediately following at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
