Grace was born on October 20, 1933, in Sanger, California to Shimataro and Hamayo Tange. Grace was the 10th child and the 4th daughter born to Shimataro and Hamayo Tange.
Grace attended Fairview Elementary School and was interrupted by being incarcerated at an internment camp in Poston, Arizona. After the War ended the Tange family came back to Sanger. Grace continued her education at Taft Elementary school and then Sanger High School. Grace furthered her education at Reedley Jr. College, San Jose college and then finishing at Fresno State where she earned a degree in education and her teaching credentials.
Grace began teaching elementary school in Sanger, then Germany, Japan, East LA, Concord, California, Selma and then back to Sanger to finish her many years of teaching.
Grace was introduced to Kenso Araki, a single farmer, golfer, bowler, and fun guy at any party from Selma. They were soon married on August 27, 1974 and resided in Selma on the Araki family ranch.
Grace and Kenso both loved to travel and see new places. They travelled to all parts of the world and went on many cruises. Kenso loved travelling on or near water.
Kenso passed away on May 13, 2008. Grace stayed on the Selma ranch until 2017 when she sold the ranch and moved into a senior housing complex in Fresno. Grace stayed active in the senior complex watching movies, playing bingo, rummy, and mahjong and eating with her group of friends.
Grace passed away on April 4, 2026 at the age of 92. Grace is survived by her brother Calvin Tange and his wife, Junko and her sister in-law Takako Tange, and many nephews and nieces. On the Araki side Grace is survived by her brother in-law, Sat Araki, and sister-in-law Teruko Araki, along with many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Service will be held at Fresno Buddhist Temple, 2690 E. Alluvial, Fresno, CA 93720, on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 am.
