

Harriet Perkins was born in Huntington Park, California on September 12, 1932, and is the daughter of Josephine De Bry Jongsma and Albert Zolan Storey. She passed away peacefully in Fresno, California on February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Harriet attended John Muir Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High, and graduated from Fresno High School in 1950. She earned a teaching degree upon graduating from Fresno State in 1954. Many of her lifelong friends were classmates during those school years. Harriet taught at the Fresno Unified School District for 5 years prior to becoming a mother.
Harriet met her husband, James Harold Perkins in 1955, and had a marriage of love and respect for 57 years. They enjoyed travelling extensively, both abroad as well as to their shared residences in Northern California and Huntington Lake.
In college Harriet was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and later the Junior League of Fresno and the Garden Club. As an avid Bridge player, she cherished the many deep friendships for whom this was a shared passion. She was a voracious reader and frequently attended movies for her leisure.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James H. Perkins, and brother, Dr. Gary Storey.
Harriet is survived by her daughter Peggy Perkins Washburn and son Mitchell Perkins, her grandchildren Sullivan, Spencer, Josephine, Chance and Charlotte Washburn, and Camilla Perkins and, great grandchildren Lillian and Merrill Washburn and her niece Leslie Storey and nephews Greg and Steven Storey.
