Hazel was born on September 17, 1933, to her loving parents John and Stella, and lived in Kerman, California, until moving to Los Angeles, California when she married Jack Matchniff in 1953. The two shared their lives together, raising two children until Jack's passing in 1975. Hazel later remarried Orville Jones in 1985, a wonderful man who embraced both of her daughters, and the grandchildren that they were blessed with.
Hazel enjoyed watching and playing sports, and the company of her friends and family. She also enjoyed being employed by Madera High School, the Claude Laval Corporation, the Lynwood Police Department, and several other companies.
Hazel is predeceased by her parents, John and Stella Bechkoff. She is also predeceased by her siblings; brother, Alex Bechkoff, brother Nick Bechkoff, sister Nellie Hazen, and sister Mary Ann Tolmachoff, and her grandson Robert Vantassel. She is also predeceased by her loving husband, Jack Matchniff, and her second husband, Orville Jones.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Jazel Sizemore and Suzanne Vantassel, as well as her grandchildren, Jonzel Sizemore, Jade Sizemore, Jazel Elizabeth Spivey, Amber Vantassel, and Jacquelynn Kapphahn. Hazel also leaves behind her great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her beloved longtime friend, Don Phipps.
A visitation for Hazel will take place Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, located at 202 N Teilman Avenue, Fresno, California, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, also at Stephens and Bean Chapel, starting at 10:00 am. A committal service will follow this, taking place at Belmont Memorial Park cemetery, located at 201 N Teilman Avenue, Fresno, California, 93706. All who knew and loved Hazel are welcomed to attend.
