Helen Anne Mulhern

Helen Anne Mulhern, 83, of Fresno, CA and Toms River, NJ, passed away on Monday December 22, 2025, peacefully at home due to natural causes.

Helen joins her beloved husband, Peter James, in the presence of Our Lord. In an altruistic life, devoted to the service of others, Helen would always sacrifice her own needs and care for those she loved. Helen possessed an unparalleled work ethic, which was displayed in every action she took.

Helen, daughter of Spencer and Mary Elizabeth Hulse, spent her early years in Lincroft, Everett, and Little Silver, NJ, with her beloved late siblings Spencer (Rosemary), Robert (Margaret), Evelyn (Gary), Frank (Gula), and Harold (Betsey). Their memories live on through many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Married on October 22, 1966, Helen Anne and Peter James built a life together spanning 40 years. The early years of their marriage and every summer thereafter were spent in Sea Bright, NJ- a special place in her heart. Later, their home on Riverbrook Avenue in Lincroft, NJ was their sanctuary. Helen’s joy in keeping an immaculate home and garden was apparent to all who visited. Sharing her yard and ravine with the abundant wildlife was Helen’s true passion. Her deep love and concern for animals guided her life. Her later years were spent in Arizona, California, and Toms River, NJ with her family. Her precious memories live on through her daughter, Heather Anne and the light of her life, grandson Robin Spencer.

Helen spent many years working as a Radiologic Technologist at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. She loved contributing her skills and dedication to the emergency and radiology departments. Helen inspired quite a few members of her family to pursue careers in radiology and medicine.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Heather Mulhern; cherished grandson, Robin Hendrickson: and a large extended family of Hulse and Mulhern relatives.

A funeral mass at St. James RC Church, Red Bank, NJ and interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, will be announced at a later date.
