Jason was born June 20th, 1975 in Fresno, CA to Kathy Marks and Michael Velasquez. Raised in Oakhurst, he graduated from Yosemite High School in 1993.
Jason was well known for his laugh, his big heart, his willingness to serve his community and others in need. As a young boy, he was lovingly known as the Mayor of East Sugar Pine, and the neighborhood is thankful for his many years of service. Jason enjoyed fishing at Bass Lake, camping with friends, the Ohio Buckeyes, and the American flag. His favorite program was Law & Order! He achieved his lifelong dream of owning his own lawn & landscaping business in 2017. Jason touched many hearts and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Audrey and LeRoy Marks, Richard Velasquez, Adela Medina, and Ben Hallett. Jason is survived by his grandmother Elsie Hallett, mother Kathy Marks, father Michael Velasquez (Patty McHugh), brother Justin Velasquez (Alison Roades-Brown), sister Autumn Cruzan (Stephen), sister Jenni Opatz (Andrew), his sweet dog Alicia, and many aunts and uncles. Sue High always held a special place in Jason’s heart, and his friendship with Elaine Robledo was like no other—she was a precious jewel in his life.
