Jerrold Theodore Steffen

Jerrold Theodore Steffen was born on August 9, 1935. He was one of four children born to Edward and Emma Steffen in Kerman, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Steffen, and brother, Stanley Steffen. He is survived by two sisters, Darlene Banducci and Carolynn Huber.

Jerry was 88 years young the day he went to be with Jesus on February 12, 2024. Jerry has two daughters whom he loved dearly, Audrey Perryman and Amanda Brown, and his sons-in-law, Robert Perryman and Todd Brown, whom he was proud to call family. Jerry’s biggest joys were his four grandchildren, Chase, Sierra, Jade, and Emma.

Jerry grew up in Kerman, CA, where he was involved in Boy Scouts, football, and Future Farmers of America. He was also actively involved in helping his dad with the farm. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning from his service, he continued farming with his family, eventually farming his own land. He enjoyed having his daughters in the field with him, whether it was helping check the water, driving the tractor, stamping boxes, or counting trays. Jerry was involved in everything his daughters did. He always attended every event they had or game they played in. Jerry’s favorite name to be called was Papa. Attending his grandchildren's events brought him great joy. Whether it was award presentations, sporting events, school plays, graduation ceremonies, or any special event they may have had.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and vacations with his family. He often fished in neighboring lakes, Shaver and Bass Lake, and traveled yearly to Mexico and Alaska.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024, at Stephens and Bean from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 26th, 2024, at 11:00 am. The reception is to follow at San Joaquin Winery in Madera, CA. In remembrance, donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
