Jerry Samora was born in Gunnison, Colorado on September 24, 1944. He moved to Fresno, California in 1954 at the age of 10. On April 20, 1965, he married his lifelong companion Betty Hinshaw to whom he would be married for fifty-eight years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Sheryl, Lucas, and Jerry Jr.
Jerry was a very hard worker. For decades he worked as a truck driver. He loved being involved in his son's activities such as; coaching baseball and being a leader in the Boy Scouts. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus as a member, Grand Knight, and 4th degree.
He loved his family and friends. He was outgoing and loved to always engage strangers in conversation to make them laugh. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of teasing others. His family always made fun of his use of Velcro, Command hooks, and zip ties for everything. He was never afraid to take on any project. Even though it may take more than one time to complete and didn't always end up perfect. He would always say, "It doesn't need to last that long. I won't be around for it to become a problem." He also loved to watch YouTube videos to learn how to do things and laugh just like a teenager.
After an extended period of illness, Jerry went home to the Lord on November 25, 2023 at home with his family present. His faith remained strong and he continued to have a positive outlook and accepted his fate.
He is preceded in death by his parents Solomon and Irene Samora. His brother Denis Samora.
He is survived by his wife, Betty. His older sister Sally. He is also survived by his children Sheryl, Lucas, and Jerry Jr.; His grandchildren, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Morgan, Delaynie, Sophia, and Isaiah; great grandchildren Makena and Maddex.
He will be sorely missed by all. Rest in Peace Jerry Pete Samora.
