We are gathered here today with heavy hearts to mourn the loss of our dearly departed Daniel Jose Armenta: beloved father, husband, brother, son, friend. Daniel, now aged 56, was born in El Platanar, Sinaloa, Mexico on April 9th, 1969, to his mother Maria Del Carmen and father José Saúl Armenta. He was the second-eldest of 8. Daniel took his final breaths in his daughter’s home in Fresno, California on July 4th, 2025. Daniel passed on just as he lived his life: surrounded by his loving family.
Growing up in Sinaloa, Daniel sought work selling bread and laboring on his parents’ land in order to help support his family. At 17, he moved to Mazatlán, and Tijuana soon after in search of opportunity. Unsatisfied with conditions in TJ, Daniel eventually departed for the U.S. alone in search of a better life. He found it in San Jose, California, where he got his first job in America at a Burger King. It was in this city that he met Aracely and fell in love with her. In 1999, he married her and sired 3 children. The eldest of the two, Brianna and Joshua Armenta, were born in San Jose. The youngest, Julian Armenta, was born in Fresno California, where the couple had relocated. Immediately he dedicated his life to his beautiful new family, working tirelessly to provide for them and spending every moment he could find to make sure they were well loved.
Jose is survived by his parents, Maria Del Carmen and José Saúl Armenta, his brothers, Humberto and Geronimo Armenta, his sisters, Guadalupe Barraza, Yessica, Alma Rosa, Irma, and Cande Armenta, his wife, Aracely Armenta, his children, Brianna, Joshua, and Julian Armenta, and many others who were fortunate to receive his presence. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded by Ava Armenta, Jerry Kimberlin and his grandparents Loreto Vega Alvarez, Timoteo Armenta, Belen Vernal and Ramon Armenta.
We ask you to not remember Daniel as he was in the moments leading up to his passing. Instead, remember the profound effect he had on those fortunate enough to know him in life. Remember his unbreakable joy, infectious laughter, and the affection nicknames he kept for all of those he loved. Remember the pride he had in his work, and his dedication to his family. Remember Pelon.
We would like to thank all who have supported us through our grief and shown love to Daniel throughout his journey of life. Through it all, he knew that he was loved by his sisters, his brothers, his nieces, nephews, in-laws, his friends, his parents, his sons, his daughter, and his wife. Our chulito will be dearly missed. We love you.
