Jose A. “Chon” Bracamontes went into eternal rest on July 17, 2021, at the age of 83 in Fresno, CA. He took his last breath surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. Jose was born in Michoacan, Mexico in 1937 to Angel Bracamontes and Adelaida Alvarez, he was the youngest of 4 brothers. He married Evangelina Orozco in 1963 and they had 4 children together, Edith, Arnold, Delfina and Blanca. Jose was a hardworking man and an inspiration to his family. Jose had ambition and love in his heart. He migrated to the United States of America in the pursuit of the American dream. Jose began selling seafood out of a small cart while walking around the streets of Los Angeles. With that small cart he expanded the business, with his son Arnold, to a food truck located on the corner of Washington Blvd and Adair St. His ambition had no limits as he opened a restaurant after years of operating out of a food truck. People from near and far not only loved Jose’s seafood, they also loved his hospitality, laughter, and joy that he brought when he walked into the room. Jose taught his children and grandchildren great work ethic and what it takes to be a kind, well rounded person.
Jose had the best laugh and was a very intelligent, loving, giving, and caring man. He learned English and Italian while working in Los Angeles. Jose knew how to play the guitar and was great at math. Jose always welcomed everyone with open arms no matter what their situation was. There is a long list of things that Jose was great at, but he was the greatest at being a husband, father and grandfather.
Jose is survived by his: wife, Evangelina; son: Arnold; daughters: Edith, Delfina, and Blanca; grandchildren: Aubrey, Jocelyne, Adrienne, Bianca, Abrianna, Jose Arnoldo, Anai, Valerie, Melanie, Dylan, Jimmy, and Matthew.
