Leona graduated in 1933 from Central Union High School, where she played mixed doubles on the varsity tennis team for four years.
Leona married Bob Lake in 1935. Together they farmed their land on Dickenson Avenue. They enjoyed bowling, belonged to many bowling leagues, and traveled to many out-of-town bowling tournaments with their friends. Leona made it a family affair and for several years bowled on a team with her two daughters, Juanita and Georgia, her daughter-in-law Patricia, and her granddaughter Kim.
While her children were growing up, she served as a 4-H Leader for five years, and she and Bob supported and attended all school functions, especially the football, basketball, and baseball games, quite often having a full car of their children's friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Lake; her parents, Guy and Ruth Boltinghouse; her sister, Wilburta Kruse, Gwendolyn Oehlschlaeger and Kathryn Kaser; her brother, Francis Boltinghouse; and her son-in-law, Alan Hunter.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren; twenty great-grand- children; one step-great-grandchild; two great-great grandchildren; eight nieces; and one nephew.
