Margaret Ellen Appling (Crouch) age 84 left this earth to her heavenly home on January 10, 2022 after a short battle with Alzheimer’s. Margaret was born August 11, 1937 to Elmer and Maude Crouch of Selma CA.
Margaret is preceded in death by her Mother Maude, her Father Elmer her two Sisters Ruby Rasmussen and Leona Lehman. Margaret is survived by her husband of 65 years Robert Appling of Fresno. She has three sons, Ronald Appling and his wife Leonna of Fresno, Charles Appling of Fresno, and Daniel Appling and his wife Shashona of Fresno. Margaret has three grandchildren, Christopher Appling and his wife Tara of Arizona, Sarah Fiskio and her husband Kevin for Simi Valley, and Jennifer Horstmeier, and her husband Jeff of Fresno. She also has three great granddaughters Abigail and Madelyn Fiskio and Kimiko Appling. Margaret also had many loving extended family and friends.
Margaret was active in her home church, Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church, which is now Campus Bible Church Palm Campus. She was a member of this congregation for 48 years. She volunteered as church receptionist for many years and helped with various activities throughout the church. She went on various retreats and family camps with the church to Redwood Christian Park.
Margaret loved her family especially her three sons, three grandchildren, and three great granddaughters. When her boys were younger, she was active in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts being a den mother. She enjoyed having children at her home on a regular basis to play or just hang out. Everyone was welcome. She was also active with her boys in their school activities and enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Margaret loved to collect things especially recipes.
Visitation will be at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel at 202 N. Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93722 on January 30, 2022 from 1-5. Services will be held at 10:30 on January 31, 2022 at Campus Bible Church-Palm Campus, 222 E. Fountain Way, Fresno, CA, and burial will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S Cornelia, Fresno, CA 93706. There will be a lunch back at the church following the burial.
