May Blake Collins was born in San Francisco, CA, on May 8, 1921. She entered into God's loving care surrounded by family on April 29, 2017, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death just six months ago by her husband of 70 years, Jim. May was raised in San Francisco, where she was a graduate of Saint Cecilia's Elementary School, the Academy of Presentation, and San Francisco State College. She was a longtime and active member of St. Stephen's Women's Club and Little Children's Aid in San Francisco. May and Jim moved from San Francisco to Fresno in 1969, and over the years they enjoyed the laughter and friendship of many close friends. May had an easygoing and joyful spirit and was a special friend to many. She loved spending time with her family, traveling with Jim, and volunteering especially at St. Agnes Medical Center. She loved her time with the lovely ladies of the Candlelight Guild. Throughout her life she was extremely devoted to her Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles; dear sister, Dorothy Blake Dwyer; and brother-in-law, Dick Dwyer. She is the loving mother of Nancy Collins Kelly, Marilyn Collins Wheelwright and husband Kevin, Carol Collins, and Joan Collins Bass. May is the cherished grandma of Alison and Erin Kelly, Jacqueline, Jimmy, and Scott Wheelwright, Christina Wheelwright Chadwick, Megan, Blake, and Erica and Michelle Bass;
and great-grandson James.
She was loving "Auntie May" to nine nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 3:00 p.m.
