Still missing you and think about you often. Things just aren't the same since you've been gone. The Family Dynamic of FMSS just isn't the same without you in it. I know I often ask myself during a stressful time at work, "What would Mike do", and then I feel a calmness come over me that helps me deal with whatever issue it is I'm up against. As though you're still helping give guidance from up above. Memories of you will last for a lifetime and I'm so grateful for having them to reflect on.

Sad, I have lost a Loved Uncle and a Loved Friend in Mike. I cant tell the Family how much I enjoyed seeing the pictures of Mike. I brought a few tear considering how many of his co workers are about to retire.  Thank you for the Memories Torres Family! 

I have to share a story with you. One day i was coming back from selling The Fresno Bee news papers in the downtown area (Fulton Mall) i was just a kid. I was walking home and i decided to walk into this building it was a place i seen people come in and out of. One day i decided to enter this place i could hear beautiful music emitting from it so i walked up these cascading steps to these large doors. I suprisely opened them and looked inside and went in cautiously. I could see lots of people around and i had a clear view in the middle of this bldg. I stood there in awe just looking around my eyes caught this figure walking towards me. A young boy or teen he was standing tall and calm walking right towards me carrying this tall cross, he was proud his works are good. I was consumed drawn in by the whole spectacle i saw HOPE that day. From that point on in my days i would stop by to see this young boy or teen carry this cross again. This always picked me up.
You see years later i met that young boy at the IRS and  that young boy was Michael Torres. I was at St Johns Church and Mike was already sharing and giving hope. Mike is in our hearts. God bless Mike and the Family.  Give and expect nothing in return we would always say. I will miss you Mike, your friend always love you man, sincerely Manny.

Mike dated my sister Dorothy, in 1980 I got PG, I was so scared, I craved starburst, Snickers and Pepsi. This was a very strong  craving, It had me in tears every evening, Mike walked up the porch to pick up Dorothy for a date, I was sitting on the lawn crying, he took his finger placed it under my chin looked me in the eyes and wiped my tears away, he said I brought
 You a gift I looked down to see it was Starburst, Snickers  two whole cases. A 24 pack of Pepsi. He said  pretty ladies should never cry, I hugged  him so tight  He said if your baby is born on my birthday  will buy you a keg of beer, my son was born August 9 1980  Mike  Thank you I know your in Heaven,  you  touched my life that summer and you will always be dear to  my soul spirit and ❤️.

 

 

Michael was the eldest of our cousins and I will always remember him as a natural leader, calm, stoic, kind, and so very generous.  My fondest memory of him is of a time in 1979 when our families took a trip to the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco to see the King Tut exhibit. This was a big deal at the time! I was about 8 years old and Michael noticed I was struggling to see the tall display with King Tut’s famed mask.  He walked over to me and picked me up so that I could reach the display.  There I was, with Michael, face-to-face staring at the huge golden mask!  I’ll never forget that experience!  Thank you, Michael for always being such a kind heart.  I pray you are at peace and that Grandma and Grandpa Juarez welcomed you to heaven with open arms. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with Aunt Polly, Uncle Trini, Marie, Joseph and their entire family.

“Beacon 460...” was the identifying phrase uttered quickly and  in a deep voice every time I called Mike at the gas station, one of the centers of our universe back in the early 1980s. 
Mikey was the guy who brought us there: Bal, Tim, Roy, Homer, Dave, Chaparro,  and a couple of other colorful characters. Mike’s parents had so much trust in their 18 year old son and his choice of friends that we all gravitated there shortly after high school. We slung gas, beer, and cigarettes and got to know all the cops and local folks who became regular characters in Mike’s young life. 
By 1981, we all worked at Beacon, Mike had stopped wearing his RHS letterman’s jacket and moved on to his BLACK LEATHER VEST.  That vest went everywhere! It went to the Chinatown saloon we foolishly entered to play pool one night after work  until a wild west like skirmish broke out and broken glass was flying. We all felt safe nonetheless having Mike there with us. The vest was worn to the Talking Heads show in SF and that wild INXS show at the Crazy Horse saloon at 99 & Clinton (remember that place?!) The vest was part and parcel of the white, seemingly supercharged AMX that we cruised in a number of times. We all liked tossing the river rock at the gas and run thefts, too! Civil liability had yet to become part of our lexicon. Assaulting a  threatening customer was a no-no too (Homer!)
A short while back, I told my adult kids about those vibrant times and now, I share my memories of Mike with them and what a decent, kind, and generous friend he was. I regret that we had not gotten together in more than a decade but the memories of him and our friends and the good times we had will have to suffice in this time of sorrow. The Beacon Boys stand tall for Mike!

I worked with Mike for a few short years but in that time he was always helpful, Giving advise and words of encouragement to me.  Always telling me that with hard work things would get better. And to take advantage of opportunities in front of me. He will definitely be missed.

I met Mike through work. I had just returned to Fresno in 2007 & he was one of the few that helped me navigate through the different buildings. He quickly became a friend and listened when I was having difficulty. I retired in 2011 & life prevented me from keeping up with him. Mike was a good man both professionally & privately.  Family was important to him, always making sure his Mom & Dad were ok. He so loved his sister. Such a hard working man. He would spend long hours at work, then tend to the family business. 
I'm so sorry that we didn't keep up, put I'm grateful that I can call him friend. I will keep you all in my prayers & I'll see you again Mike.
God is lucky to have him.

I am so sorry for your loss, our world is a little dimmer without him. Mike was an amazing person, I had the pleasure to have worked with him  for many years. He would always help anyone in need and would always have a smile. He will be truly missed.

I knew Big Mike for many many years from working with him. I have no words to express my sorrow at his loss. He was a force of nature that can never be replaced.  He was truly a gentle giant. My last memory of him was a conversation  in the hallway  at work.  He told me "Mr Franco, you are in charge of this side of the building, I'll take the other".  I wont let you down. God bless the family.

My heart goes out to Mike's family. He was the sweetest hard working gentleman I knew. Always a smile and never rushed no matter how much we panicked!! He is sorely missed.  

I knew Mike from work, I was an out of town guy and visited the building occasionally, but he was always friendly and helpful to me. I was always fascinated of how he never seemed to get to excited over trouble, not sure how he felt on the inside but seemed pretty calm on the outside. I would like it when he would call and say, we got a problem and we need your help and he would slowly go over what was going on. I will miss him. 
I know he is in a much better place, but that doesn't make it easier for friends and family. My prayers will be for your comfort and peace.

Mike will truly be missed by many.  I worked with Mike for many years on many work projects.  If you needed something from his department, he ensured it was taken care of.  I was very sad to hear of his passing.  Heaven has received another angel.  RIP Mike.  Never forgotten,  always in our hearts.

God Bless you cousin. You were 5 years older than me but like a big brother. I was a pip squeak to you and I always looked up to you. I always admired you because you were always movin' and shakin', a football star and a bright star! I wanted to be like you, movin' and shakin'! I wanted to tag along with you because fun things were always happening around you and because you were always so cool and "in" especially after you bought your own car and motorcycles. That was a big deal! Everyone loved you, and so did I, as your little cousin. I remember asking you to take me to the Journey concert but I was too young. I remember all of the fun times, especially at Grandma's house, Christmas's and running around the plum orchard playing tag. We grew in different directions and I made my own way in a different city but I still always admired you from afar. 
I am SO Unbelievably shocked, tearful and saddened by your loss and I, along with So many, will miss you. You have left us all too soon. I pray that you Rest in Peace and I pray along with the Rest of Our Entire Family, near and far, that God Be with You and that you Rest in Peace. Roughriders forever!

I worked with Mike for many years and it was always a pleasant experience. He had a knack for solving work problems and would always say, “I’ll take care of it,” and he did. You could count on Big Mike. He was friendly, confident, responsible and more than willing to help anyone. Mike will be in our hearts and memories forever. Sending his family peace, love and comfort at this difficult time.

I was luck to work with and know  Mike and his family for over 36 years.  He had a great ability to get along with everyone.  He had a kind heart and and a great soul.  He was the person in a emergency or a time of sorrow that would be there with the words to get you through the sorry.  He would be there for you to support you at that time.  
Our work place is a little quieter, he is missed.  He is present in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.  A very special man who grew up with a special family who gave help and kindness to all they met. As someone said, he left in the hands of God. Love you Mr. Mike and the family.  Peace

Mike” The Bull” Torres was a gentle giant who strolled the halls at Roosevelt High School. He was our heavy weight in wrestling, and was a vital part of our football team. He was the quiet one , but easy to make 😆 laugh. He loved his letterman’s jacket with all of his varsity patches he  earned. It was always a sight to see Marvin, the Bull and I in my cheer uniform roll into the market together to grab some things before a game. They were my unofficial body guards and very dear friends to me.. he will be truly missed. RIP big guy...

I will miss Mike dearly. He was just a great guy who would always take a minute to shake hands and chat. My condolences to his family. Vios con Dios Amigo.

I met Mike at work when we were in our 20’s. He gave me the break in life that I needed when I got my perm job.  He was not a manager, he was a leader and I admired him. We had a lot of good talks on those graveyard nights. Years later our paths crossed again, once again Mike gave me another great opportunity, that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. I tried to thank him a couple of years ago. He responded, I may have helped you but you’re the one that got yourself to where you're at. 
I hope he realized what an impact he had on my life. I would still go looking for him when I needed to break a $100.  Thank you for everything Mike. I’m going to miss you my friend.

Mike, “The Bull” Torres,  as he was known at Roosevelt.  Especially by his fellow football teammates.  He and his family owned a gas station for years and he would always help us whenever we needed.  We have the memory of him always wearing his letterman jacket.  He loved that jacket. 

I haven’t seen him in years, but it was devastating to hear the news of his passing.

Rest In Peace brother. 

I worked with Mike for many years and never seen him mad or angry.  He always had this calming way about him by just talking to you with his soothing voice. He also would always greet me with a hug and smile every time our paths crossed which was very uplifting. He will truly be missed.

Mike and I worked together for many years. I always admired how he could remain cool and collected under pressure. He was my friend and I most admire his selflessness. He was always willing to lend a hand and always so friendly. I will miss Mike in a big way. To his family I extend my overwhelming and most heartfelt sympathy. 

Big mike was known as the godfather in the warehouse. I use to tease him call him father mike because of all the issues he would resolve.  He did it with a quiet confidence.   Helping others, giving advice.  No matter what he was always there for everyone.   He was a great leader and a great friend.  I know GOD will bless his soul for eternity.  I can visualize him riding his harley or indian thru heavens clouds.
