
Norman was born January 16, 1922, in Bakersfield, CA to Charles and Helen Doty, and passed away April 14, 2012, while surrounded by his family. He and his family moved to Fresno in 1934, and Norm graduated from Fresno High School in 1940. While waiting to go to the Brooklyn Dodgers training camp in Florida, Dec. 7th happened and World War II started. Norm then joined the Navy and spent the entire 4 years of the war aboard the U.S.S. Idaho. He was involved in all of the big battles of the Pacific. Upon returning to Fresno, Norm gained employment with the Southern Pacific Railroad. He also met and married Marianne in 1948, and they had 62 wonderful years together. In 1956 Norm and Marianne started Nor-Mar Kennels, which was in business in Fresno for 36 years. They were also actively involved in the breeding and showing cocker spaniels. Norm was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49'er fan, as well as a lover of golf. Norm was preceded in death by his wife Marianne, grandson-in-law Reu Reeve, and brother-in-law Maurice Tarvin. He is survived by his two sisters, Betty Paniccia and her husband Bill, and Margaret Tarvin, brother Jack Doty and wife Carol, son Charles Kroigaard and wife Shirley, and daughter Kay Petri and husband Lanny, four grandchildren, Kristina, Mari, Anne and Norman, and three great grandchildren. A Graveside service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Friday April 20, 2012 at 11:00 am.
