Richard met his wife Betty on April 3, 1969, while still in elementary school and have been together ever since. They have two daughters, Antonette Chavez and Sophia Barboza. Richard also has two son-in-laws, Alfonso Chavez and Jose Barboza and four grandchildren, Alfonso Chavez Jr., Jalen Barboza, Alianna Chavez, and Aidan Chavez.
Richard enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for many years. He also taught his daughters how to play softball at a young age. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them.
He was a hard worker and was in the construction business for over 30 years.
Richard was loved by all he met and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He will be greatly missed.
