

Robert (Bob) Nagle, beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend passed away at his home in Prather, CA. on Sunday, August 26, 2012. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA on June 28, 1937 to Charles and Gwen Nagle. The family moved to Atascadero in 1949, where he attended school, graduating from Atascadero High School in 1955.
After graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Naval Reserve, and continued his education at West Hills College in Coalinga where he earned an associate's degree. He was a member of their 1956 football team that was inducted into the West Hills College Hall of Fame in 2011. Bob even played semi-pro football for teams in Santa Maria and Morro Bay. A sports lover in general, Bob was particularly a fan of the Oakland Raiders, the Atascadero Greyhounds, and more recently, the Fresno State Bulldogs and Sierra High School football and basketball teams.
Joining his dad, Bob went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1964 and retired after 35 years. His retirement years were filled with traveling in his motor-home, fishing, card playing, and spending time with his family and friends, as well as maintaining his life-long hobby of raising chickens, geese and other livestock.
Bob is survived by his children Robert Nagle Jr. of Prather, Cheri Nagle of Santa Barbara, and Russell Nagle of San Antonio, TX, as well as step-children Gina Barbaree of Chattanooga, TN, Joe (Donna) Bowman of Hixon, TN, and Julie Cossey of Prather. He is also survived by his brothers Dan (Lauren) Nagle of San Luis Obispo, Terry (Rosemary) Nagle of Prather, and sister Sandra Hurst of Atascadero, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lynn and his parents.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Colony Hall (Best Western, Colony Inn) 3600 El Camino Real in Atascadero at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of choice.
