Rodney Talmadge Hylton

Rodney Hylton of Fresno, CA passed away on July 7, 2023, at age 77. Mourning his loss are his daughter Heather and son-in-law Cas Banaszek; granddaughter Gabrielle; daughter Kristiana Bovetti; brother Wayne Hylton and sister-in-law Suzie, nephew Travis Hylton, and niece Christy White. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge and Roye, and his grandson, C.J.

Rodney was born on September 28, 1945, in Lemoore, CA. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he embarked on two tours of duty in Vietnam. After returning to Fresno, Rodney became a motorcycle officer at the Fresno Police Department where he diligently served his community. Rodney later began work as an investigator at the Fresno County District Attorney’s office where he had a long career as the Chief Investigator. Rodney’s tenure at the Fresno Police Department and the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office was marked by a deep commitment to upholding justice and protecting and serving others.

At the end of his career, Rodney continued his passion to serve by joining KFOR, a NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, and UNAMI, a United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq. Rod’s love for travel and new experiences was at the core of his being.

Rod was deeply proud of his family, enjoying his grandchildren, Gabby and C.J., immensely. Though C.J. preceded him in death, Rod’s love for him remained constant. While we mourn his loss, his family and friends will continue to celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the indelible impact that he had on each of them. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, adventure, humor, and love.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for Rodney in September with details to be published in The Fresno Bee when available.
