Shirley L. Ruiz

Shirley went to be with the Lord Tuesday April 5, 2011 with her loving Family by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 29, 1935, and in her childhood moved to California, eventually moving to Fresno County where she met her beloved husband and raised her children.

Shirley spent 20 years caring for others as a Nursing Assistant at Saint Agnes and Community Hospitals as well as Nancy Hinds Hospice. Shirley served as Eucharistic Minister and Reader at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her dedication to her Family and Friends and her unconditional love. She was a selfless and giving person that inspired her family and those who knew her. Although this past year has been difficult, Shirley never complained and was always looking out for others. We are so blessed by having Mom/Shirley in our lives and are comforted knowing that she is at peace and will always be our special Angel watching over us.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Lee and Retta Sanders Carte and her Step-Dad Russell (PA) Carte. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth Ruiz, of 60 years; her three sons, Kenneth Ruiz Jr. and his wife Ana, Roman Ruiz and his wife Paula and Ted R. Ruiz Sr. and his wife Joanie. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Funeral Chapel on Sunday April 10, 2011, from noon to 5pm.

A Rosary/Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 2838 N. West Ave, on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 10am. Interment to follow at Belmont Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice or Catholic Charities.
