

After Shiz graduated from Fresno State College, he studied at Waseda University in Tokyo, and soon after the termination of World War II, he was employed as a chief accountant by Caltex Oil Company of New York, a subsidiary company owned by Standard Oil of California and Texaco, operating in Tokyo, Japan.
After working for Caltex in Tokyo for over ten years, Shiz returned to California with his family, became a Certified Public Accountant and rendered professional services to his clients in Fresno and Clovis until his retirement in 1999.
He was preceded in death by June Nobuko, his beloved wife of over 50 years; and his younger brother, Mitsume of Michigan.
He is survived by his son, Glenn and his wife Arleen, of Danville; two brothers, Yoshio Takayama and wife Miwa of Selma, and Mitsuru Takayama and wife Mary of Sanger; grandson, Trevor and his wife Torrey; granddaughter Courtney; and extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2013, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at United Japanese Christian Church on Saturday, January 5, 2013.
