Dr. Stephen Charles Isberg (Steve) died of natural causes on Sunday, January 26th 2025, at the age of 67. Steve is survived by his two brothers, John Isberg and Pete Isberg, and was preceded in death by his father, Charles Isberg, his mother, Carla Isberg, and his sister, Janet Isberg Walters.
Steve was born in San Francisco and grew up in Salinas, California, attending Salinas High School and Hartnell College. He then received his bachelor's degree at Long Beach State and his DDS degree at the University of California at San Francisco.
After receiving his DDS, Steve had a 40+ year career as a dentist. After working a few years practicing with other dentists, Steve started up his own practice in Fresno where he worked for over 30 years. During most of this time Steve worked with underserved communities. In recent years, Steve worked with a mobile dental group that would travel to schools in the valley, working out of a bus, providing needed dental services to students. He was particularly kind and gentle when working with children.
Steve had a sharp, irreverent sense of humor. As he grew older he rediscovered his love of exercise, walking a couple miles daily (often with his brother John), and would take long walks on the beach when visiting his mother in Carmel. Steve would also swim a mile most days, having been an outstanding competitive swimmer in his youth, and he enjoyed swims in the ocean during his vacations to Hawaii. Steve valued his numerous friendships, including high school and dental school classmates. Despite his quiet nature he was always the life of the party. Steve hosted for many of his friends when they visited his home in Fresno. He was {and is} loved by his family, friends, coworkers and patients.
Steve will be missed.
A celebration of life for Stephen will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
