With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vicenta Lopez Serios, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord at the age of 89 on March 12, 2025.
Vicenta was born on January 22, 1936, in Camalaniugan, Cagayan, Philippines. Her life was one marked by love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She met her devoted husband, Victor Serios, in her early years, and together they built a life grounded in hard work, family, and dedication. They settled in Ilagan, Isabela, where Vicenta owned and operated a small store to provide for their growing family. She and Victor were blessed with nine children, and she worked tirelessly to support them in every way.
Vicenta’s persistence and determination goes unnoticed. She always got things done and was bossy in the most loving way. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her actions always spoke of selflessness and care.
In a twist of fate that only she could have orchestrated, Vicenta asked a friend visiting from San Diego to help locate Victor’s father, who was living in Fresno, California. I don’t know how that friend was able to locate him during that time with no internet, but she did. Through this act of determination, the family was ultimately able to migrate to the United States, beginning a new chapter full of opportunity and hope. In 1985, Vicenta and her family moved to the U.S., seeking a better life for the ones she loved most.
Vicenta worked at the Ramada Inn, where she dedicated herself with the same work ethic and heart that defined her life, eventually retiring in 2005. Beyond her work, her life was rooted in faith. Her love for God was evident in everything she did—she never missed a Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church and could always be found in the same pew with her husband, Victor, by her side. She hosted many prayer gatherings in her home, sharing her deep faith with family and friends.
To know Vicenta was to feel her love. She never forgot a birthday and welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. Her words on every birthday, “and many many more birthdays to come,” will echo in our hearts forever.
Vicenta leaves behind her beloved husband of 71 years, Victor Serios; eight children; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith lives on through them and all who had the honor of knowing her.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Rest in peace, dearest Vicenta. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you are loved beyond words. You have left us with a lifetime of love and memories.
