Wallace & Sandra Abbott

Wallace Edwin Abbott, Sr., aged 89, peacefully departed from this world at his home in Fresno, CA on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 25, 1934, in Fresno, he was the middle child of Walter and Alfreda Abbott, part of a family that included three sons.

Wallace is joining his beloved wife, Sandra Elaine Abbott, who passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Sandy was born in Pennsylvania on August 29, 1938, and was the oldest of three children to Howard and Irene Lebo.

Wallace encountered the love of his life, Sandy, while stationed in the Air Force, and their connection was instantaneous. United in marriage in 1956, Wallace and Sandy became devoted spouses, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

Wallace's legacy is eternally marked by his captivating storytelling, passion for sports, and numerous adventures traveling the country in his cherished motorhome. Sandy will always be remembered for her strength, determination, and approaching life with a little bit of sass. Following their professional careers, Sandy and Wallace transitioned into a new role as foster parents, extending love and support to numerous children in need.

Wallace and Sandra are survived by their son, Wally Abbott, and wife Rhonda; son, Steve Abbott, and wife Danene; daughter, Lydia Abbott, and partner Carlos; foster son, Steven Fuller; grandchildren Melanie, Matthew, Andrew, Derek, Dustin, Cassandra, Cynthia, Carlitos, Liam, and Thomas; and four great-grandchildren.

Wallace and Sandra are preceded in death by their daughter, Pamela Abbott-Pillor, in 2014; Wallace's brothers Donald Abbott in 2010 and Robert Abbott in 2023; Sandra's brother Larry Lebo in 2018 and sister Mary-Ann Bevard in 2021.

Wallace and Sandy's indelible impact touched the lives of many, and their absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving them.

A visitation for Wallace & Sandra will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
