After 88 years, many of them in faithful service to her Lord Jesus, Wanda Faye White went to be with Him on Monday, November 18, 2019. She was surrounded by loving and caring family with the support of Saint Agnes Hospice. Wanda was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma on September 1, 1931. She was the fourth child of Redic Clifton Hill of Tennessee and Nancy Rebecca (Stacy) Hill of Oklahoma Indian Territory. She graduated from Lindsay High School, Class of 1949 and attended Oklahoma College for Women briefly before marrying Gene Godwin and having their five precious daughters. She moved to California in 1954 and enjoyed a full life in various cities and once lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Our Mother will be remembered for her generosity toward all, especially the youth of her church, hospitality toward visiting missionaries and her patient and content outlook through life's joys and challenges.
Her love of God's Creation and Bible study will be part of her legacy. Music and participation in choral worship began at a young age and continued all her life. Sewing unique as well as look-alike outfits for her girls was a necessity as well as a great joy. She retired from Fresno State University financial aid department after 20 years of employment. She is preceded in passing by her parents, sisters Margie Bell Wilson and Ruby Lee Hill and half-brother Everett McElroy. She is also preceded by two husbands, Bob White of 35 years and Gene Lull, her sweetheart husband. She is survived by her grateful daughters, Faylin Fulbright (David), Kathleen Brown (John), Carolyn Fairchild (James), Nancy Godwin and Denise Murray. Also surviving her are a daughter by marriage, Belinda White Turner, son by marriage Randy White, niece Annette Beck and nephews David Wilson and Alvin Wilson. Eight adult grandchildren: Christopher, Stacy, Allison, Jessica, Keith, Michelle, Brianne, Kevin and 11 great grandchildren carry on her legacy. They will miss their Grandma and Gigi. Many lifelong friends from New Heights Church will remember her fondly. In lieu of flowers Wanda would want donations made to New Heights Church, 6385 N. Fresno St. Fresno, CA 93710. Funeral Services were under direction of Lisle Funeral Home, Fresno.
