The beginning lines in the unfinished epilogue of BFK's poem "Emanon".
Aurora "Ora" Kinkead passed away peacefully on February 19, 2021 in The Colony, TX. She was born October 16, 1950 to Ramiro “Shorty” and Mary Rodriquez in Artesia, NM.
Aurora married Billy Frank "Frankie or Bill" on August 21, 1971 in Artesia, NM. She attended New Mexico Junior College and the University of New Mexico. She served in the US Army as a clerk-typist from 1976 until her discharge in 1978. Aurora and Bill moved to Amarillo, TX in 1978 to raise their two children, Andrew and Mary Michael, and to establish their law practice where she worked for over 30 years.
The family could go on and on about Aurora and her loves, likes, and quirks. But she will mostly be remembered for her devotion to her Lord and family. Her life of giving, loving, and serving others gave her the greatest satisfaction. If you ever needed her, she was there and would stay as long as you needed. The outpouring of love the family has received, memories shared of visits, conversations, small gifts she has given, and her acts of kindness over the years show Aurora's spirit.
If you knew Aurora well, you know she did not enjoy being the center of attention. She enjoyed everyone having a good time. She wasn't one to dwell on negative things, tears, or sadness. We were to look to the Lord and smile with gratitude for the good things in life that he has given us. In lieu of a formal service, the family requests that each of you spend time with your loved ones, go for a walk, gather safely, laugh, share memories, meditate or pray, help someone in need, or volunteer in your community in honor of Aurora. That would bring her the greatest joy. We find comfort in knowing that she is dancing free and smiling in the arms of her son, Andrew, while the Universe sings.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Andrew Bradford Kinkead. She is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Mary and husband, Nathan of The Colony; her grandson, Ethan Malone and girlfriend, Toni Vahrenkamp of Little Elm; and step-granddaughter, Courtney Ferrell and husband, Chase of Amarillo; her sister, Oralia Alvarado of Amarillo and brother, Manuel Rodriquez of Guam. She is survived by her nieces and nephews who will miss their Tia Ora. She is also survived by her “bestest pal" of 58 years, Linda Pershall, and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Sovereign Hospice of Aubrey, TX for their support. We especially thank her nurse, Ashlee. The family is forever grateful.
