Donald Ray Kimbril, age 67, of Prosper, Texas passed from this life on Sunday, January 19, 2020, surrounded by family. Don was born to Amos and Margaret Kimbril in Gadsden, Alabama.
Don graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1970. He earned a Bachelor degree in Engineering from Auburn University and a Graduate degree from Texas A&M while working for the Department of Army.
With over 30 years of experience, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the oil, gas and petro chemical industries. He received numerous awards and recognition for his work which were promptly placed in a closet or drawer rather than displayed for all to see. His job gave him the opportunity to travel the world and work with many people for whom he had great respect.
His enthusiasm for life was contagious. In his youth, Donnie spent countless hours playing Rook and corkball with his friends. Golfing, fishing and hunting were his favorite pastimes. He faithfully cheered for his Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Braves. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who could tell amazing stories, play games, sing songs, make really good popcorn, and watch his favorite movies, which he called classics, over and over and over.
Don is survived by his mother, Margaret Kimbril; wife, Shirley Kimbril; daughter, Courtney Little (Joey); son, Andrew Kimbril; sister, Teresa Elkins, brother, Alan Kimbril (Kathy); grandchildren Taylor and Brayden; niece, Michelle Thomason and nephews, Matthew Kimbril and Cody Kimbril. He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Kimbril.
We miss him more than words can say, but we find comfort in knowing that he is with his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ who forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases.
