

Dorothy Jean Wilson, 86, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2020. She was born on October 13, 1933 in Washington. She was the daughter of Arthur and Edith Hughes and had an older brother Norman. Her father died in 1992 and her mother died in 1996. Her brother Norman died in 2012. She is survived by her younger sister Cindy, nephews Michael and John Hughes, niece Mary Hughes, her two sons Larry and Gary and their families and her daughter Barbara.
Her family moved to Corvallis, Oregon when she was younger. Growing up she studied ballet. She attended school in Corvallis graduating from Corvallis High School in 1951 and ultimately graduating from Oregon State University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Technology – Secretarial Science. Her late father, Arthur Hughes was a professor in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. She enjoyed playing flute in the Oregon State University Band, winning an award for flute and piccolo. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority server as the house treasurer, and always spoke of her fond memories in sorority.
After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, WI and eventually moved to Dallas, TX where she married Dale Wilson in 1960. She was an excellent sewer and knitter and started a business creating doll clothes in the early 70’s before the family moved to Plano, TX in 1975. She spent many years in the Medical Dictation field and was always lauded for her incredible accuracy and insane typing speed.
After retirement, she enjoyed going to afternoon movies with friends until she moved to Settler’s Ridge nursing home in Celina, TX in 2016. She always looked forward to her family Sunday lunch brought in from one of her favorite fast food restaurants.
A memorial will be held at a later date on one of her favorite Oregon beaches when it’s safe to travel again.
