While working as a teacher in South Florida, Erline met her husband, Robert Taylor at Sheridan Hills Baptist Church in Hollywood Florida. They were married on March 26, 1994, in Aliceville Alabama, then moved to Atlanta Georgia where Robert started his residency training program. Following the completion of his residency in Atlanta they moved to Frisco Texas where they have remained since 1997. In the Spring of 1998, they welcomed their first child Ivy Adair. The family continued to grow with the arrival of Coleman in the Spring of 2000, Olivia in the Winter of 2001, and Emma in the Spring of 2005. During these years, Erline was instrumental in helping Robert start his practice with jobs ranging from answering the phones while being very pregnant with Coleman and having Ivy Adair in a pack-n-play in one of the treatment rooms. She handled and continued to handle all of the office design, furnishing, and decoration.
On top of her responsibilities of raising a family she worked several years as an elementary school teacher. Many of her students often came back to see her and hug her years after leaving her class. On hard days at school many of her fellow teachers found themselves smiling and laughing after interacting with her.
Many people knew Erline as a gifted musician and vocalist. She sang many times for special events as well as being a member of some exclusive vocal groups. She worked summers during college singing for the Junaluska Singers in North Carolina. She continued honoring the Lord with her vocal talents, singing as a soloist and on many praise teams.
Erline was very passionate about her faith, family and friends. She had no greater joy than sitting around a table with all of her extended family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were the weeklong Camp Meetings she and her family participated in for all of her life. When people are asked what they remember about her, the most common response was her infectious smile and how she would light up a room. If asked she would tell you her favorite thing to do was laugh and our family laughed a lot.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Robert Taylor of Frisco Texas, her children Ivy Adair Taylor, Coleman Taylor, Olivia Taylor, and Emma Taylor, her father Marvin Spiller of Aliceville, Alabama, siblings Jay Spiller (Carolyn) of Brooksville Alabama, Byron Spiller of Aliceville Alabama, Edna Faye Stevens (Scott) of Demopolis Alabama, Leslie Spiller (Traci) of Demopolis Alabama, and Mary Jean Noland (Bert) of Aliceville Alabama, her mother-in-law Karleen Taylor of Dallas Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death, by her mother, Carolyn Spiller and her father-in-law Paul Taylor.
A Celebration of Life memorial service for Erline will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Prestonwood Baptist Church - Plano Campus, 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093.
