

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, TX at 11am on August 29, 2018 with a reception, at the church, to follow. Father Charles Githinji will be officiating. The Funeral service will be held on September 15, 2018 at 10:00 am, at Saint Vincent Basilica Parish in Latrobe, PA. Father Paul Taylor of Saint Vincent ArchAbbey in Latrobe, PA will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Mary Mother of Mercy Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are being handled by Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, TX.
Gerry was born in New Kensington, PA on March 31, 1941 to Joseph and Helen Guz. He graduated from New Kensington High School in New Kensington, PA in 1959 and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Saint Vincent College in 1963 where he was also a member of the football team.
Gerry married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Meyer, on September 7, 1963 in New Kensington, PA. They were deeply devoted to each other and happily married for 55 years.
Gerry started his professional career in 1963 in railroad steel sales at Alco Products, Inc. in Latrobe, PA, Chicago, IL and Houston, TX. Gerry relocated to Milwaukee, WI in 1969 and worked for A.O. Smith Corporation as Director Of Marketing. In 1975, Gerry moved to Midland, MI and worked for Machinery Business before moving to Houston, TX in 1976 to begin a lengthy and successful career in the Oil And Gas industry, working for Rucker Schaffer and National Supply in Houston, TX and then in 1982, UGI Corporation in Valley Forge, PA. Moving to Tulsa, OK in 1983, Gerry concurrently served as President of Wellhead Products in Tulsa, OK and as Chairman of Cryotex in Houston, TX.
In 1986, Gerry relocated to Greensburg, PA and he and 6 partners purchased 7 companies, which they combined to form UTI Energy Corporation. Gerry served as Senior Vice President of UTI and also as President of one of the companies, Universal Well Services, until his retirement in 1999.
Gerry, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather enjoyed his family more than anything. He graciously hosted large family gatherings at his home and regularly visited his children and grandchildren in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and Georgia. His other passion was his Catholic alma mater, Saint Vincent College, where he generously supported students and alumni, including hosting the annual alumni and friends Mass and Brunch in Bonita Springs, FL. Gerry was a member of Saint Francis Of Assisi Catholic Community in Frisco, TX.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie, children Brian, Kevin and wife Kim, Darrin, and Meghan and husband Glen, brother Ronald and wife Melissa, brother Gene and wife Marsha, and seven beloved grandchildren: Jolie, J.R., Logan, Rowan, Caleb, Daniel and Vincent and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry is preceded in death by Father, Joseph Guz and Mother, Helen Guz of New Kensington, PA.
