

Born near McKinney in Whites Grove, Texas on October 16, 1923, died peacefully on December 8, 2014 in Waco, Texas.
Henry Lawson grew up in the Collin County area and graduated from Blue Ridge High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts (1951) and Master of Divinity (1955) degrees from Southern Methodist University.
In 1942 married Dorothy Jane Broyles and had three sons.
A WWII veteran, Henry was drafted in to the Army in 1943. Assigned to the 746th Tank Battalion, he would serve in France, Belgium and Germany until December 1945.
Henry served as Pastor to ten North Texas United Methodist churches from 1948 – 1978 and continued to serve the church as Chaplain for the Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital from 1978 – 1988.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Henry Hunter and Ida Evans Lawson, sister Nadine Taylor, brother Robert June Lawson, wife of 64 years Dorothy Broyles Lawson and son Larry Dennis Lawson.
Survivors include sons Henry Preston Lawson and wife Sheila, Jerry Wynn Lawson and wife Betty, grandchildren Rene’ P. Lawson, Lynna Fedric, Lisa Lawson, Robbyn Arriola, Raven Pritchett, Jack Henry Lawson, Jerry W. Lawson Jr., Sarah Duncan, Laura Lawson, ten great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
