Huandi Wang passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, one day before her 88th birthday, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 22, 1937, in Shanghai, China to Zhifan Wang and Yuying Shao, she lived a life full of grace, humility, wisdom, and quiet strength. Her legacy is one of deep love—for her family, her students, and, in her later years, for God. Her kindness, dedication, and generosity of spirit will be forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
As the youngest of three children, Huandi grew up in a close-knit family with an elder sister and brother. She graduated from the First Shanghai Normal School in 1955 and dedicated over 40 years to teaching elementary students Chinese language. She was honored as “Excellent Teacher of Shanghai” in 1981, known for her creative and engaging methods in teaching first and second graders. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, contributing significantly to the mentoring of young teachers in Chinese education. In Plano, she continued teaching Chinese at the Dallas Modern Chinese School, earning admiration and gratitude from students and parents alike. Teaching was not just a job—it was her passion and calling.
Huandi cared deeply for her family throughout her life. A devoted daughter, she lovingly cared for her mother until her passing. As both a devoted wife and mother, and a modern career woman, she worked diligently while supporting her husband and raising their children tirelessly with love. As a grandmother, she played an integral role in nurturing her grandchildren, passing on her heritage. Her grandchildren are proud to call her their teacher and role model.
In 1995, Huandi began attending church with her son’s family, opening her heart to the Christian faith. By February 2022, she expressed her personal desire to follow Jesus Christ and began worshiping regularly online due to health limitations. She cherished God's Word and would often write down Bible verses in her notebook. In her final days, she was baptized, embracing the Christian faith with joy and peace.
Having a blissful marriage of six decades, Huandi was preceded in death by her husband, Jitang Zhang, in August 2021. She is survived by: son, Ming Zhang, daughter-in-law Joanne Zhang, and granddaughters Shirley and Sharon Zhang; daughter, Hong Zhang, son-in-law Xiaolong Li, granddaughter Ying Zhuang, and grandson-in-law Jialiang Wang.
A memorial service to celebrate Huandi’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to be donated to Frisco Community Bible Church, a community close to her heart.
