Hubert Tom Houston

Hubert “Tom” Houston, 69, was born on October 10, 1948 in St. Petersburg, Florida and died on August 2, 2018 at his home in Frisco, Texas. Tom is preceded in death by his mother Dena Newman Houston and his father Hubert Todd Houston. Tom grew up swimming, fishing, going to summer camp, and exploring the outdoors in Florida. After graduation from the University of South Florida, Tom joined the Navy to become a fighter pilot like his father. When that dream was no longer a reality, he began a long and successful career in textile manufacturing and sales until he retired in 2013. When he wasn’t working you could find Tom hunting with his buddies, at the farm with his family and grandkids, researching his uncle, Sam Houston, or pursuing his lifelong dream of finding the perfect Cuban sandwich; all of this done in his recognizable uniform of overalls and Crocs. He had a love of Elvis Presley. Tom was an active member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and found pleasure in teaching others how to fish, hunt, and shoot guns, safely. Tom found joy in making other people happy. He loved his family very much and always took care of those in need. He had a heart of gold and the size of Texas. Tom believed deeply in the core values of honesty and responsibility. Every experience with Tom turned into a life lesson. Some of Tom’s famous words of wisdom included “Don’t answer a question with a question” and the “world doesn’t revolve around you.” Tom is survived by his wife Lilia Trevino Houston of Frisco, TX, sister Michele Stewart of Atlanta, Georgia, and step-mother Josephine R Houston of Vero Beach, Florida. His legacy will live on through his daughter Alissa Womack and husband Adam of Coppell, TX, daughter Adina Ritter and Greg Ritter of Plano, TX, and son Ruben Cortinas and wife Laurie of The Colony, Texas. There are also six very special grandchildren that will miss his wrestling and tickling, his laugh, and all his unique little treats: Addison Lily (10), Reid Davis (9), Nikolas James (7), Chase Houston (6), Kaliann Rose (6), and Alexa Kate (4) are heartbroken to be without their Wuelo.
