James Eldon Boswell, 81 of McKinney, TX died peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018. Born on May 23, 1937 to Jessie Worley Boswell and Irvin Boswell in Haskell, Texas. He was the youngest of six siblings.
Eldon enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho, while on assignment, as staff historian and base reporter, he met Dorothy Jean Morris. They were married in 1961.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Western College in El Paso, TX and embarked on a career teaching mathematics for 45 years. He was passionate about education and dedicated to helping every student succeed.
Eldon was an active member at Western Hills United Methodist Church while living in El Paso and briefly served on the church staff. He lived out his faith through service to others and participated in several mission trips to Central America. He was a current member at Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, TX.
Eldon was a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed family activities like Sunday afternoon car rides, weekends camping and hiking in the mountains, or watching UTEP Miner basketball games under the guidance of Coach Don Haskins. He loved the outdoors and relished working in his garden. He could often be found working crossword puzzles or watching a John Wayne movie while relaxing in his favorite recliner.
His caring compassionate nature and comforting presence will be missed by his family and all who loved him.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Jean Morris Boswell and three children Evan Boswell and wife Sharon, Carol Bergman and husband Gary, Charlene Nease and husband Eric, 10 grandchildren, and his sister Betty Jean of Arlington, TX.
