Joseph “Joe” Michael Rosol, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 15, 1945, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Joe grew up in Reading, where he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1963 with both First and Second Honors. A true scholar-athlete, he excelled academically while competing fiercely on the football field and basketball court. You could always find Joe on a field or court, embracing any challenge with determination and grit—competition was in his blood.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University. A lifelong and devoted Nittany Lion football fan, Joe also passionately supported the Philadelphia Eagles, proudly declaring, “Fly Eagles Fly.”
Joe’s sense of duty began early through ROTC in high school, leading to his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service reflected the strong values instilled by his parents and his deep love for his country.
Following his military service, Joe built an exceptionally successful career on Wall Street, ultimately becoming a hedge fund executive. During the 1980s, his career took him from Pennsylvania to Arizona, and finally to Plano, Texas, which he proudly called home for many years. The stock market and global financial events were a daily passion, and Joe remained sharp, curious, and engaged throughout his life.
In retirement, Joe fulfilled a lifelong dream by spending his time on the island of St. Maarten with his beloved wife, Julia. There, he embraced a quieter pace of life while never missing a moment of his children’s journeys or his grandchildren’s school events and sporting achievements. Distance never dimmed his presence—he was always watching, cheering, and caring.
Joe was a deeply devoted husband, a loving and steadfast father, and an adoring “Gramps.” He loved fiercely, lived boldly, and left a lasting imprint on all who knew him. His legacy is one of strength, loyalty, generosity, and unwavering love. He will be forever cherished and always remembered.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Franklin Rosol, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and Carolyn M. (Gumeniski) Rosol.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Lu (Sledge) Rosol; his sister, Carolyn (Rosol) Toll; his children, Michael Rosol, Meredith (Rosol) Vance and her husband Stephen Vance, Ashley Thieman and her husband Ben Thieman; and his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Vance, Kaitlyn Vance, Bode Rosol, Mees Rosol, Colton Thieman, Cooper Thieman, Mason Miller, Jackson Miller, and Maddison Carter, along with many others who loved him and held a special place in his heart.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Stonebriar Funeral Home Chapel located at 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests tax-deductible donations be made in honor of Joseph Rosol to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization dedicated to improving the well-being of post-9/11 wounded, ill, and injured veterans, service members, and their families.
