She was born December 20, 1948 in Geneva, Ohio to Paul and Elnora Almy, the second child of six. As a girl, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings on the farm and caring for the animals. She married Paul Kendall Calhoun in 1966, had two boys, and was widowed. She married David Albert Blattner in 1981, moved to Dallas, TX then Trenton, NJ and eventually settling in McKinney, TX where she lived out the rest of her life.
In Texas she homeschooled her last two kids and was a dedicated mother and teacher; instilling the importance of education, exercise, and the arts. She loved her dogs Dutchess, TAJJ, and Pudge. She was a gifted artist throughout her life, always giving away oil paintings, quilts, and various crafts to friends and family. She spent many years in the church, preferring the sounds of Bethel Music, which she played religiously in her twilight years.
She is survived by her five children—Paul Calhoun, Eric Calhoun, Ken Kerestesy, Joshua Blattner, and Dylan James—her two grandchildren—Austin Sprinkle and Colby Calhoun—and four of her siblings—Sherry Kuhn, Andy Almy, Alice Harrah, and Paul 'Chips' Almy. She's moved on to join her parents and her sister, Elouise Jahn.
There will be a celebration of her life on October 26, 2024 at 11am at Stonebriar Funeral Home.
