Linda was born in Enid, OK on February 3, 1947 to Lewis and Laura Miller and went to her heavenly home January 31, 2019. She attended McKinley grade school, Waller Jr High and graduated from Enid High School. She married David Clarke and while living in Enid grew her family and pursued a satisfying career in real estate and mortgage lending.
Linda was most pleased when surrounded by her family and took great pride knowing that her sons were happy in their lives and in their careers. She enjoyed being outside and on road trips with David, sometimes their only plan was flipping a coin to decide which direction they would go and she always thought that the journey was the adventure. She especially enjoyed radio control soaring together with David, competing in contests in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Dallas for several years.
Linda was a guiding force in her husband’s telecom career, in which she took great interest. His career took them from Enid to OKC and onto Dallas and Paris, France, before living in Kaohsiung and Taipei, Taiwan for 8 years. In Paris, Linda loved being the essential tour guide for all their visitors and she was forever out and about exploring the city. She and David enjoyed traveling throughout Europe but their favorite destinations were St Malo and Cannes, France.
Later, while living in Taiwan, Linda found it exciting and always the adventurer, she was never disappointed in her experiences. Life seemed to overflow there with many friends, the growth of the business and frequent travel to Hong Kong and throughout Southeast Asia.
In 2005 they retired from the expat life and enjoyed living in Amarillo near Linda’s brother Bruce and her cousins, Dennis, Janey and Jeri. For several years they made many road trips in the western US before moving back to Frisco to be nearer sons Don and Stephen and sister Sandy. Linda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and courageously battled this terrible disease for almost 7 years.
She was dearly loved by family and friends and though we miss her more than words can express, she has a new home now, one without pain and suffering.
Linda is survived by her husband, David, son Don of Frisco, son Stephen and daughter-in-law Mary of Stillwater, sister Sandy Barrett of Dallas and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Laura, brother Donnie and brother Bruce.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Linda K. Clarke Undergraduate Scholarship Fund through the Oklahoma State University Foundation.
